Rose early for a walk on the black sandy beach, just cross the road and over a small sand hill. Watched the sun rise over the ocean. Into town for bacon, eggs and fresh bread- produce is excellent here- straight from the farm.
Lazy start and we headed off north along the coast road to find a waterfall walk we were recommended.... Found that the road wound around the beach for miles and miles, then we found laybys near beaches that had fur seals basking in the sun and playing in the surf. Bert found one under a trees in the side of the road enjoying the sun.
After the beach we headed to the waterfall, and the seal pups were swimming in the fresh water, playing, lazying, and hanging about. We followed the path up and more pups were even further up the river. We got to the waterfall and there were more seal pups - playing under the waterfall, ducking and diving everywhere, and basically enjoying themselves, see photo above.
Their mothers come up to the entrance of the waterway and feed them - the pups hang out up in the fresh water creek and waterfall - very safe and protected.
Back to NINS BINS for lunch of mussels, Joyce bought a crayfish for dinner. We got a load of mussels for 3 - we did get through them.
Bob and Joyce enjoying lunch. Home for a break, the boys went off golfing - Bob playing and Bert driving, scoring and encouraging. Joyce and I shopped.
A good day had by all.
Best memory from today.
