We left home, cats in their holiday accommodation and drove to Sydney and had a lovely lunch at Watson's Bay. Watson's Bay is a little bay on Sydney Harbour where we paddle, it is on the Southern Headland just over from the Famous "Bondi Beach".
Installed at the hotel, awaiting arrival of Bob and Joyce from Perth - they did arrive!!! We had a really nice dinner at the Ibis, tired and off to the rooms to sleep.
Not the most exciting day but we have all gathered for the Emirates Flight to Christchurch. We then have a 3 hour drive up the west coast to Kaikoura (Maori meaning is something like "good crayfish" and we have 3 nights at The Fairway Resort. Thanks Richard forthe recommendation.
More to follow there.....
We had a good flight from Sydney to Christchurch, picked up the hire car a Toyota Highlander, plenty of space and really comfortable. The nice man gave us a 2 day discount - great saving. We headed off to find our way to Kaikoura up the main highway No 1. A little over 2 hours and 135kms, some lovely windy roads, mountain passes, a run along a beach road with fantastic snow capped mountains right next to the beaches.
Arrived late around 7pm and checked in, the owner recommended a nice restaurant in Kaikoura town "The Green Dolphin" and we got a window seat with the beach in the foreground and the snow capped mountains behind. Fish, Venison and good steak for dinner. Tired and well travelled - home we went to our 2 bedroom apartment at "The Fairways".
Pictures tomorrow - promise.
Highlights of the day:
Bob - difficult to pick drive, accommodation and the evening meal
Bert - drive and scenery
Joyce - this fantastic accommodation and venison for dinner & bargains. Thanks Richard for recommending The Fairways resort.
