Got up a little later today and did some housekeeping (clothes washing actually).
We ventured up into the mountains behind Kaikoura, the idea was to drive through the mountain range to a town called Waiau and have lunch there.
Off we went through the prettiest, greenest and tidiest countryside and farming land you could imagine. Sharp mountains, snow still in the crevasses of the mountains and obvious land slides everywhere you looked. The mountains get up to 2500 meters.
Had a lovely coffee at the Lyford Ski Lodge, rain came in and we drove onto Waiau but it was a small country town, so we headed back to Kaikoura via Highway 1. Bought in dinner from the supermarket and came home.
Bert and Joyce went back to the Seals at the Waterfall, Bob and I stayed home and rotated all the wet clothes through the dryer and booked accommodation for our last 2 unconfirmed locations. All nights now have confirmed accommodation....
SORRY no photos today.. Not sure why I didn't take any.
Best things today:
Bob: tours and mountain pass - views.
Bert : visiting the seal pups again
Joyce : seals again and chai tea
