Day Eleven

We rose and it was COLD and windy and wet, but little did we know it was going to be so cold. We drove down to Cradle Mountain with full intention to walk around Dove Lake, arrived at the Visitors Centre and got on the 9am Shuttle Bus and it was already snowing.

It was beautiful to see the snow and the temperature was anywhere from 0c to 2c, it even got as warm as 4c throughout the day.

It was too cold and wet to go too far so we had a short walk and had to return as we were wet through from the snow, see picture of Bert posted earlier with the snow piling up on his back.

We drove home and changed and Bob and Joyce stayed in but we went out again and did a Adventure Tour for $15 for 1.5 hrs. It was excellent tour, loads of information and were taken up to an original shack and ancient forest, it was beautiful and fairylike.

The weather cleared up and when we got to Dove Lake on the tour we could see the mountains that surrounded the Lake... See here the panoramic picture here!!!!!

After the tour ended we went to the Devils@cradle - where we did a tour of the Tasmania Devil breeding program and survival or lack of information session. It was quite depressing really but they seem to be on top of it all.. We were allowed to pat a Devil called Oswald he was very nervous of us but was ok with us patting his hind only.

Coffee at the posh hotel on the way home, it warmed us up nicely. Home for a lovely dinner at the hotel and a few glasses of red wine put me to sleep nicely.
