November 16 - Akaroa to Sydney

Well, last day of our holiday.

New Zealand bacon - can't beat it - with eggs - even better for breakfast.

We drove to Lyttelton for morning tea via the scenic route which was lovely and the countryside was so interesting and changing every few miles. Lyttleton was badly hit by the Feb 2011 earthquake, there are empty blocks everywhere, fencing and broken walls. The people are getting on with life - many businesses are running from inside temporary caravans.

Through the tunnel and into Christchurch to have a look around, could not get near the city centre, it was all fenced off. Out of respect we just went away from the centre and drove through the lovely park that is beside the city.

Then into the airport and checking in, our Emirates flight back to Sydney and into the hotel for the night. We were surprised to find it warm and raining in Sydney. All tired but had a fantastic holiday.
