November 15 - Akaroa

A day in Akaroa

We planned to go out at 8.30am and get on the Black Cat boat to swim with the Hector Dolphins and Bob and Joyce were coming along to watch. We are both very tired and the water temp is only 11C and just not up to it at all.

The boat company swapped our booking over to the 11am Harbour trip to see Hector Dolphins, penguins, and seals so all of did that. We had morning tea and good walk around. See morning tea below......

The boat was a big cataraman and we followed the north side of the Harbour out to sea and saw all sorts of good things, seals, penguins , Maori village and meeting house. On the way back we saw the long awaited hector dolphins, they were only the size of a person and had the cutest faces.

After the boat ride we had fish and chips for lunch, they were excellent, walking around town again to get our dinner groceries in and then home for a short break. Bert and I went to the lighthouse for a visit and downtown for a cold beer and wine on the waterfront. I bought a lovely pair of aquamarine earrings at a shop called Fire and Ice, they have an online store too.

An early night as we are travelling home tomorrow.
