Bert and I went out for a wander for a late breakfast, everyone is arriving from around the world.
Brenda and Julie from Perth, Tim and Martene and The Herringtons from London are due today, we have sundowners on our rooftop again tonight to welcome the new arrivals.
Off to the Las Ramblas and in search of the La Boqueria Market, the oldest continuous market in Barcelona, one amazing place. Just a couple of Bert's pictures to show the place and colours.
This is the seafood and the whole legs of Iberico ham hanging. Most of the restaurants have these full legs hanging and they look fantastic, we have tried it a few times and it is very nutty because the pigs are fed on acorns.
We wandered down Las Ramblas and ran into David and Pam - coffee break! Of course.
Just wandering down the road, a text arrives from Suzy H, they are just checking in - address is - 73 Las Ramblas, we are standing in front of 69 Las Ramblas.... Uncanny luck, we go up and say hi.
Off down to Nelson's column - as recommended by David. It stands at the bottom of Las Ramblas on the harbour front, we pay the small fee and go up in the 2 person lift - the lift operator tells us the platform is 60 metres above town.
See the ornate church spires in the middle of the picture - our apartment is behind that. Fantastic 360 view of Barcelona.
Off for lunch and we could not resist - Burger King. No further comment..
Home for a foot rest, and get organised for more family fun time on our rooftop. This family is amazing that they have all committed, planned and travelled to a city where none of the family live, just to have a once in a lifetime get together for a week. My hat is off to everyone of them and their spouses.
