We've had a huge day out on the Queen Charlotte Sound, lovely breakie in the hotel with fresh homemade muffins and croissants. Onto the E-KO tour boat for a dolphin swim trip, 2 young girls from Christchurch came to swim with the dolphins the rest of us were there to see. We saw the same pod for around an 1 hour swimming around us - Dusky Dolphins with the pretty faces and dark mouths (like they have lipstick on).
The Sounds, are the fingers of mountains with very deep water channels between, it is very pretty.
We are currently at Picton, on the bottom right hand corner of this picture.
We had lunch and went back for an E-KO Tour on the same boat with the same skipper and toured up and down the individual sounds and coves looking for unusual (to us anyway) wildlife and had a tour of a wildlife sanctuary. We spent 2 hours seeing some very rare creatures including a bird called a shag and there is only 800 left and they are all here.
They do have orca's in this area and I did want to see them but no luck today, no penguins either but the wind did come up later today. So have got a selection of pictures here including our nice big posh hotel room.
I have been using my new SLR with just a little success but nothing worth showing today, I had fun trying but not worth publishing.
Another day tomorrow and another adventure. Good Night all.
