November 14 - Lake Tekapo to Akaroa

No so early start today, button the road after a full hotel breakfast.... The scenery was soft and more rural. Still very green but the sharp hard snowy mountains have gone and have been replaced by rolling hills.

The road trip was lovely as we approached Akaroa, the views were spectacular and we were on a very high ridge road, we could see the coastline on both sides, the road was very narrow and winding around. Bob was driving and it was a busy time for him.

We arrived in town for lunch and found out that a cruise boat was in the harbour, so town was busy.

We had a light lunch and bought some food and went to book into the accommodation, it was up the Beach Road.

It is a lovely second floor two bed apartment with lovely views over the water.

Bert and I had walk downtown and checked out the area, it is very quaint and cute and French. The street names and shop names are all Rue something.

Bob and Joyce walked up to the old lighthouse that is between our apartment and the township, it is over a hundred years old and was relocated from out on the ocean cliffs into this location and an automated lighthouse put in its place.

Had dinner and an quiet night at home.

Best of the day;

Bob : Left the mountains and the road trip into Akaroa.

Bert : The change in landscape and seeing the two inlets from the ridge line.

Joyce : coming over the ridge and scenery into Akaroa.

Me : The beautiful old buildings and character of the township.
